Photos from my first visit
to the Bahamas. The weather was perfect, sunny and warrm, and the
Bahamas lived up to its reputation for beautiful sandy beaches and clear blue seas.
The economy of the Bahamas now relies on tourism rather than physical piracy.
The part-Dutch and part-French
Caribbean island of St. Maarten / St. Martin was my winter break
destination for several years. I've assembled photos from all years and organized
them by location and activity. St. Maarten / St. Martin is beautiful. It offers
a wide range of activities for visitors. And it is an interesting case of lightning-fast
tourist industry development. (I haven't been back since the devastating 2017 hurricane.)
St. Maarten's Island Neighbours,
St. Barts, Anguilla and Saba, are each accessible as day trips from St.
St. Barts is French and hilly, Anguilla is English and flat, and Saba is Dutch and extremely
mountainous.
Barbados was one of my one-time
winter break destinations. This former British colony is one of the most developed of
Caribbean islands. It offers lots of great beaches and some unique tourist attractions.
