  Photos from a partially-guided trip to Italy.  The heart of this trip was a tour operated by European Castles Tours: Italian Highlights – Rome, Florence and Venice.  I also had some time on my own south of Naples and in northern Italy.  There were rainy days, but the sun usually shone when I wanted it most.

Route Map

The tour started in Rome, with highlights visits and an out-of-town excursion to Tivoli.  Assisi was a stop en route to Florence, home base for explorations of that city and the surrounding Tuscan hill towns.  Lido Island was the home base for the visits to Venice and the nearby islands.

I added explorations from Naples before the tour, to see Capri, the Amalfi Coast, and Pompeii, and some time in northern Italy after, to visit Stresa, Lake Maggiore, Cinque Terre, and Milan.
