Four trips: two weeks in south-eastern Florida, ten days on the Gulf Coast, ten days in the Florida Keys, and nine days around Key Largo.

  Highlights of the trip down the east coast from Orlando to Key West included a thorough two-day visit to the Kennedy Space Center, sightseeing down the Florida Keys, an excursion 75 miles out into the Gulf of Mexico to Dry Tortugas, and appreciation of the Art Deco hotel architecture of Miami Beach. Florida East page

  The visit to the Gulf Coast featured an eclectic mix of historical sites, art galleries, museums, and beach communities, with frequent visits to wildlife sanctuaries and centres.  Highlights included visits to the Edison and Ford summer homes in Fort Myers, Sanibel Island, and the Ringling Mansion, Museum of Art, and Circus Museum in Sarasota. Florida West page

  My visit to the Florida Keys covered some of the same territory as the east coast trip, but also included a concentrated look at the remnants and legacy of the Key West Extension of Henry Flagler's East Coast Railway.  Major destinations were Key Largo, Marathon, and Key West.  A short helicopter ride at Marathon provided unique views not only of that community but of the Keys as a whole. Florida Keys page

  The Key Largo trip was just a winter escape, again to the Keys, but I did a bit of exploring, including seeing what's leftover from the making of the Key Largo movie that made this town famous. Florida Keys page
